Study Association
A study association is an organization run by a team of students from the respective bachelor’s and master’s degree programme(s). The FSE study associations organize many activities for students, including introductory camps and monthly “borrels” (informal social gatherings, often with drinks), but also more serious events such as company visits or conferences. Study associations differ from the general student associations where the degree programme is irrelevant. And study associations do not have hazing rituals.
Hi there, and a warm astronomical welcome to the University of Groningen!
Sirius A is not only the brightest star in the night sky - it’s also the study association for Astronomy in Groningen. We have members from across the bachelor and master programmes for Astronomy, and a very relaxed and welcoming environment.
We have a very good relationship with the Kapteyn Astronomical Institute as well, which means that our members can have regular and relaxed chats with their favorite professors and get actively involved with research! On top of this we organize a ton of events and activities throughout the year, ranging from social events where we relax, unwind and bond; to educational or career events that help us through the courses and look to what comes after. We also organize weekly study clubs where we can all come together and help each other with homework assignments and other projects.
