Senior Teaching Qualification

The Senior Teaching Qualification (hereafter STQ) programme is intended for experienced instructors who have the desire and ambition to play a leadership role in improving education and stand out due to their commitment and dedication to high-quality education. The FSE STQ programme is specifically tailored to the tenure track with education focus and aligned with the promotion criteria therein. 

In the STQ programme, candidates will…

1. develop a personal, evidence-based educational vision statement, which will link their personal beliefs/values of educational quality to their STQ project.
2. further develop their knowledge and practice of programmatic quality assurance which can include assessment, evaluation, and teaching methods.
3. lead educational innovations or improvements beyond their own course level to programme, department, or faculty-level initiatives.
4. demonstrate their ability to coordinate projects or educational initiatives within teams of colleagues at varying organisational levels (e.g., students, instructors, student advisors, curriculum designers and trainers, directors or faculty boards).

The STQ programme

The STQ programme is characterised by inspiring meetings/workshops on a variety of strategic educational themes, the implementation of an educational innovation project, interaction with experts within the University of Groningen, peer consultation meetings, and personal mentoring in the context of the project.
