Two parts
A two-country based summer school course
PASF is developed and delivered as a two country course:
- The first part will be delivered as a "summer course" at the University of Brasilia (UnB) , in the city of Brasilia in Brazil , Monday December 2 - Friday December 6, 2019. This part will consist of lectures, reflective seminars and assignments, all delivered by planning professors from the Faculty of Spatial Sciences of the University of Groningen (The Netherlands) in cooperation with professors from UnB. Part One will be delivered free of cost for students from Brazil. The maximum number of participants has been set at 75. A significant number of slots will be reserved for students from UNIFOR, the hosting university for the 2019 edition. All lectures and workshops will be in English.
- The second part will be delivered as a "winter course" at the Faculty of Spatial Sciences, University of Groningen (UG) in Groningen, The Netherlands, Wednesday January 15 - Tuesday January 28, 2020. This part will also include a few lectures and seminars, but will include many site visits and excursions. On the last day of the two week course, participants will deliver short presentations in a mini-conference setting. The course fee of € 550 for Part Two is the fee that is required to cover the costs for a bicycle, bus-excursions, various meals and admission fees. For this fee of € 550, participants are expected to organize their own housing. A limited number of rooms in International Student Houses will be available for a surcharge of € 350 (so a total fee of € 900). The maximum number of participants has been set at 25.
Although participants are encouraged to attend both parts of the summer school, it is possible to only attend Part One ('summer school') or to attend only Part Two ('winter school').
Together, the two parts of PASF have a credit load of 5 European credits (EC's). One European credit stands for 28 hours of study; one full academic year has a total of 60 EC's. Certificates will be made available for each of the two parts of PASF.
