Pre-arrival checklist

Register and complete your application in Mobility Online before May 1 if your exchange is in semester 1 or the full academic year and before October 1 if your exchange is in semester 2.

Make sure that you apply for housing in time (approximately April or early May for first semester arrivals, approximately second half of October or early November for second semester arrivals, exact dates will be announced by us by email). If you want to apply for in a room in a SSH International Student House, it is important to register in time and to book a room as soon as the booking window opens and to pay as soon as the SSH asks you to do so (see practical information and dates).

If applicable, apply for a visa and/or residence permit. The Immigration Service Desk (ISD) will contact you and explain the procedures. You should not start making your own arrangements for a visa or residence permit.

Select your courses before June 1 for the first semester and before December 1 for the second semester.

Arrange your trip to Groningen; make sure to be in Groningen in time for the introduction for exchange students (see practical information and dates).

Activate your student account. Activation instructions will be sent to your private email address (also check your spam box) 3 to 2 months before the start of your exchange.

Upload a photo for your student card.

Fill in your emergency contact information in Mobility Online.

All visiting exchange students are expected to have health, third-party liability, travel and other potentially required insurances. The Dutch government or the University of Groningen does not provide for insurances. Please consult our website with more information about health insurance for exchange students.
