The city of Leeuwarden
Some winter schools take place at Campus Fryslan, in the city of Leeuwarden in the north-west Dutch province of Friesland. The city has been described as being like Amsterdam but without the crowds, and lives up to this with a continuous flow of cyclists riding on canal paths – with tunnels lit up in purple at night.
Leeuwarden is the main city of the greenest and cleanest province in the Netherlands: Friesland. Leeuwarden is becoming more and more popular as a student city, and with good reason. You can explore the historical city centre, and there is plenty to do considering that it was the cultural capital of Europe in 2018!
