Master Your Talent event successful
On April 8th, the Master Your Talent (MYT) event took place. Over 100 interested students attended the event to get information about the Research Master and Honours Master programmes of the University of Groningen. The MYT event was intended for students to ask broader questions about conducting research and participating in these excellence programmes. The students learned more about our programmes and our interdisciplinary approach to scientific and social issues, and discovered how we can help them make a difference in their future career.
Nick Nieuwenhuijsen, Study Advisor of the Honours College, opened the event. After that, our Dean, prof. dr. Hanny Elzinga, gave a general overview of the Honours Master Programme. Prof. dr. Petra Rudolf, Dean of Graduate Studies of UG, also gave a general overview of the Research Master Programme.
Afterwards, prof. dr. Linda Steg, our guest speaker, gave a presentation on psychology and climate change. Prof. Steg is a pioneer and world leader in the field of Environmental Psychology from the Faculty of Behavioral and Social Sciences. She is the first UG-winner of the 2020 Stevin Prize, one of the highest scientific distinctions in the Netherlands from the Dutch Research Council (NWO).
After the plenary session, students got a chance to talk with student ambassadors from different faculties, who were very excited to share their academic and student life experiences. The evening ended in Gather Town, where the students chatted with the staff of the Honours College and socialized and networked with fellow students from different academic disciplines.
