Honours students receive GUF-100 prizes
The Groningen University Fund (GUF) announced and awarded this year’s GUF-100 prize to the ‘best’ 11 students of the university, during its annual summer ceremony that was held on July 1st, 2021. We are happy that no less than 5 of these 11 winners are Honours College students.
The prizes were presented by the Rector Magnificus, and consist of a certificate and a sum of €2500 for study or research. The online event was organized by our Dean, Prof. Hanny Elzinga and Liselotte Versteeg, our Apprentice Secretary. The 5 winners from the Honours College are:
- Faculty of Science and Engineering – Shruti Giri
- Faculty of Medical Sciences – Trishla Sinha
- Faculty of Arts – Audrey Achieng
- Faculty of Spatial Sciences – Cecilia Eero
- Faculty of Behavioural and Social Sciences – Greta Grossek
The GUF-100 Prizes for outstanding students were first awarded in 1993 to mark the 100th anniversary of the GUF. The GUF was founded on 4 March 1893 by professors of the University of Groningen with the aim to promote academic excellence (i.e. outstanding personal and academic achievements, including outside their regular degree programmes) at the university.
The Honours College is very proud of these accomplishments and congratulates all winners! More information on GUF-100 prizes 2021 can be found here, where you can also hear from the winners
