University card
You will receive the University card only once. The card remains valid throughout your entire study career. Your University card will expire when you deregister.
The University card can be used
-
at the printers and photocopiers
-
to borrow books from the University Library
-
to access the University Library
-
as proof of identity when you register for and sit exams
-
to use the facilities of the ACLO Sports Centre if you have 'ACLO-vated' your card.
Once you are fully registered, you will receive your UG student card at home or you will receive an email informing you where you can collect your UG student card. This depends on your correspondence address:

If you have a Dutch correspondence address, the University card will be sent to this address.

If you have a non-Dutch correspondence address, you will receive an email informing you of the time when you can collect your UG student card at the Student Information & Administration department. Do note that you will need to schedule an appointment online in advance.
You will receive the UG student card only once. The card remains valid throughout your entire study career. Your UG student card will expire when you deregister.
If you have lost your UG student card or if your card has been stolen:

apply for a new UG student card. A € 15 fee will be charged to do so. You can apply for a new card with the Student Information & Administration.
Please note that once your University Card has been blocked, the card cannot be unblocked. You will then need to request a new UG student card.
Your UG student card will display your photo. You will need to upload this photo yourself as follows:
Step 1: Browse to the Student Portal and log in with your S-number (for example s1234567) and password.
Step 2: Click on UG Tools.
Step 3: Select "Statement of enrolment and photo"
You can now upload your photo for the student card or download the statement of enrolment.
Please note, you can only download the statement of enrolment if you are enrolled.
Make sure to keep the following in mind when choosing a photo:
- Your head is shown in full and faces toward the camera (portrait photo).
- You are not wearing sunglasses, hat, cap or other head covering (except head coverings for religious reasons).
- No other person or object should be visible.
- The photo is clear and good quality.
- The photo has not been edited by filters or other effects.
We manually check whether your photo meets the requirements. If your photo does not meet the requirements, we can reject it and ask you for a new photo. Keep in mind that this may impact the processing time of your UG card.
You can deposit money on your UG student card through myPrint. It is not possible to get a refund of the money you deposit on your UG student card.
Your UG student card will not work if:

your account is blocked, for example because you have not paid the tuition fees.

you are not enrolled at the University of Groningen.
In the above situations, you will be unable to use university's facilities, including the University Library.
