Strategic Partnership with Universidade de São Paulo
Universidade de São Paulo (USP) is one of the nine non-European Strategic Partners of the University of Groningen.
Amongst other things, USP:

Ranked 115 in QS Worldwide University Ranking 2022 and 2º in Latin America!

Offers 249 undergraduate programs and 239 graduate programs.

Approximately 58,000 graduate students enrolled and around 28,000 graduate students with 6,000 professors and 16,800 university staff.

Houses altogether 24 museums and art galleries, most of them located in the central campus.

Has 42 libraries managed by the Integrated Library System, which is also responsible for the university’s online system, DEDALUS.
Double Degree Program with Universidade de São Paulo
In June 2022, Universidade de São Paulo and the University of Groningen signed a Double Degree PhD Agreement that allows for the enrollment of doctoral students in a Double Degree (DD) doctoral program in all academic fields covered by both institutions.
Candidates can find more information in the Sandwich PhD with Latin America section. Also, all prospective students are required to contact the UG Representative Office in Mexico during the earliest possible stage of the application (preparation) process.
USP (Medicine) Winter Schools
Each year, UG Strategic Partner, USP, organizes several Winter Schools for medical students from all over the world. The UMCG’s Graduate School of Medical Sciences (GSMS) usually supports a selected number of medical students to attend the Schools.
The 2023 Schools are from 17 to 28 July (the Brazilian winter). For this year, five medical students will be selected for a scholarship which includes travel allowance. For more information, visit the GSMS website.
