Vacancy: Diversity & Inclusion Office, Student Member for the Advisory Board
Apply to be on the Diversity & Inclusion Advisory Board and make the University a better place for everyone!
The Diversity & Inclusion Office is seeking applications from students for a seat on the D&I Advisory Board. This board advises the Chief Diversity & Inclusion Officer and the D&I Office, both at their request and on its own initiative.
The Diversity & Inclusion Office has the mandate to develop and implement the University’s D&I policy with four primary focal points:
-
Communicating the visibility and urgency of diversity and inclusion as a precondition for academic success and as part of the RUG’s Strategic Plan.
-
Raising awareness of the added value of diversity and the existence of privilege and bias to achieve a change in culture towards more inclusion.
-
Pursuing an active diversity and inclusion policy to help create equal opportunities for everyone.
-
Carrying out a baseline measurement and monitoring the effectiveness of the D&I policy and actions by introducing a monitoring system or by using an existing one.
The D&I Office is a central office that reports directly to the Board of the University. The Advisory Board convenes three times per academic year; one of the three meetings will also be attended by the external advisory members. The next meeting will be in February 2024. The main language of the meetings is English.
There are two positions on the board available for students (for a one- or two-year position). One position is already filled. We are seeking one new student member to begin in February 2024. Please note that this position is unpaid.
The candidate should have a demonstrable interest and/or experience in D&I within the University.
To apply, please submit a short letter of motivation and CV by midnight Sunday 7 January 2024 to diversity rug.nl . Please state in the letter your interest and experience with D&I. Please also state in the letter your Faculty and when you intend to graduate. Interviews will likely take place the week of 15-19 January.
We look forward to hearing from you!
