Self-Empathy Workshop For Educators: loving and nurturing yourself to better support students

When:Tu 28-01-2025 12:00 - 13:30
Where:House of Connections (1st floor), Grey Room

This academic year, the empathy subgroup, initiated by Angelos Konstantinidis & Eloise Daumerie, was embedded into the CoP Well-being. The purpose of this new group is to enhance the (self) empathy skills of educators as a means to foster inclusion and learning. To this end, a number of hands-on workshops will be organized every academic year.

As educators, we often prioritize the needs of our students, sometimes to the detriment of our own well-being. This workshop explores the importance of self-empathy, a vital skill for fostering resilience, well-being, and compassion in the classroom. By understanding and tending to our own emotional needs, we can become more compassionate mentors and supporters of our students.

In this interactive workshop, participants will:

  • Share and reflect: Engage in open discussions to identify common teaching challenges and frustrations.

  • Learn practical techniques: Discover evidence-based strategies for managing stress, building resilience, and cultivating a positive mindset.

  • Practice self-empathy: Explore mindfulness exercises and self-care practices to nurture emotional well-being.

By the end of this workshop, participants will be equipped with practical tools to enhance their self-awareness, emotional resilience, and ability to connect meaningfully with their students.

Note: A minimum number of 10 participants is required for this workshop to take place.
