Visit the European Researchers' Night & Zpannend Zernike

One big science party!
13 September 2023

On Friday 29 September, Saturday 30 September and Sunday 1 October, science and technology at the University of Groningen will be showcasing its activities at more than 15 locations throughout the city.

On Friday 29 September we will start with the European Researchers' Night in Forum Groningen. Contrary to what the name suggests, this night is not only for researchers, but for all curious people! Between 19:00 and 23:00, Forum Groningen will be transformed into a science festival full of science comedy, discussions, mini-lectures, music and experiments.

On Saturday 30 September and Sunday 1 October it is time again for Zpannend Zernike, the annual free science festival for primary school children.

European Researchers’ Night

On Friday evening of the 29th of September, the four Schools for Science & Society of the University of Groningen will organize the European Researchers’ Night in the Forum Groningen, together with Studium Generale, Young Academy Groningen, and Science LinX. An evening full of short quizzes, music, rap, mini lectures, interactive exhibits, humor and drinks. As said, all people who are curious are welcome, including researchers, employees, and students. Programme is available in Dutch or English; international students and guests are, therefore, cordially invited!

You can fing the full programme at Forum's website. Will you listen, chat, experiment, explore, and quiz with us on Friday evening of 29 September? Tickets cost only 7.50 EUR and for every ticket, you get two free drinks at the Forum Groningen. Book your tickets fast via this link.

Zpannend Zernike

This year, the EU Night will continue seamlessly into Zpannend Zernike, the free science festival for families with children of primary school age. On Saturday 30 September, you will find Zpannend Zernike at various locations in the city center. On Sunday 1 October, you can visit the Groningen Zernike Campus to get into science! On that weekend, you can go on a great journey of discovery through the world of science at various locations between 12:00 and 17:00. Whether you like nature, exercise and health, technology or words and culture, there is an activity for all children. Read all about the program and participating locations here!

The European Night of Researchers and Zpannend Zernike is co-funded by the European Commission, under the Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation programme, grant agreement No 101060416.
