Philosopher of language explores differences between texts
This year, philosopher of language Emar Maier was awarded a Vidi grant by NWO to research the differences between everyday language use and language use in stories. He is investigating why we interpret a text in a newspaper differently from one in a fantasy novel. He is also going to research the differences in language use between different kinds of text, and whether it is possible to teach computers these differences.
