Ilja Nolte
Ilja Nolte is a statistical geneticist specialized in (genome-wide) association analysis and statistical follow-up of hits from such studies. She completed the two studies Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Groningen in 1997, both with honor. Her PhD project was executed under the supervision of dr. Gerard te Meerman in the Department of Medical Genetics at the University of Groningen, The Netherlands. It resulted in the thesis ‘Statistics and population genetics of haplotype sharing as a tool for fine-mapping of disease gene loci’ in 2003. After her PhD she joined the Genotyping Facility, Department of Medical Biology at the University Medical Center Groningen, The Netherlands, to perform the statistical analyses for several projects aiming at dissecting the genetic background of common diseases In December 2006, she moved to the Unit of Genetic Epidemiology and Bioinformatics of prof. Harold Snieder within the Department of Epidemiology in the University Medical Center Groningen. She is currently involved in several consortia that combined summary statistics from genome-wide association studies. In addition she is an expert in programming in R which she uses for the application and development methods for statistical analysis of results from such studies.
