Biomaterials and Biomedical Technology (BBT)
Biomedical engineering applies the principles and problem-solving techniques of engineering to biology and medicine. In our department, biomedical engineering research focuses on the advances that improve human health and health care in different fields. Examples of bio-engineering are to be found throughout healthcare, from diagnosis and analysis to treatment and recovery in implantable medical devices, such as pacemakers and artificial hips, and more futuristic technologies such as stem cell engineering, or the 3-D printing of biological organs.
