Student Ambassadors Medicine
Hello everyone!
We are Ysabelle Feringa and Lot Hoekstra. Together, we are part of the Learning Community Intramural Care. We are both second-year bachelor students. Like many other students, we are also active in the Medical Faculty Association: M.F.A. Panacea . Panacea is the study association for medical students and organizes various activities. In addition, we both work in healthcare to gain experience with patient contact.
Medicine in Groningen has an innovative curriculum that prepares students to become competent doctors of the future. The program mainly consists of small-scale education and has an average of about 12 contact hours per week. Therefore, we spend a lot of time on self-study. Due to the small-scale education, we already know many of our fellow students well.
Groningen is a beautiful city to be a student; it is small but not tiny. It has about 240.000 citizens, of which approximately one fourth is a student. This means you will always run into people when you are on your way to the CMB (Central Medical Library) and you always have people to hang out with! Groningen is a lively student city and the University of Groningen plays a dominant role in the city. There are activities every day, from cultural (like USVA) to educational or sports (like ACLO).
For us, Groningen offers the opportunity to find a perfect balance between education and free time. If you decide to study medicine in Groningen, you won’t regret it! Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions about studying medicine in Groningen, about enrollment and selection, student life or extracurricular activities.
Hope to see you soon at the faculty of Medical Sciences!
Ivar & Ysabelle
