Dr. Oksana Kavatsyuk
I am currently doing research in two main directions:
Educational Sciences
My task as a teacher is to provide a high quality up to date education. This includes creating a safe and stimulating classroom environment and engaging different learners. I am very interested in how STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) subjects can be taught in a more inclusive way. I am leading a team of lecturers and students, exploring how all students regardless of gender could be encouraged to explore their talents to their full potential in the domain of STEM.
Check our “STEM for all” project website with suggestions for teachers: www.stemforall.nl.
For school teachers there is a possibility to do a PhD project in physics or educational sciences NRO has funding for this type of projects: https://www.nwo.nl/onderzoeksprogrammas/promotiebeurs-voor-leraren).
Physics
My current physics research focus lies in understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying biological radiation damage in radiotherapy and space missions. I am a part of the research group working on energetic interactions of gas-phase molecules.
