Research interests

Zhen Chen holds a PhD in Private International Law from the University of Groningen. Her research focuses on protecting consumers in the digital age and facilitating their access to justice under European and Chinese private international law. Through a comparative law study, she addresses the question of how current private international law rules in China and the European Union could be reformed to provide better consumer protection in cross-border disputes. In addition, Zhen is also passionate about cultural heritage law and the repatriation of cultural objects through international legal proceedings.
