dr. Y.P. (Yfke) Ongena

Yfke Ongena is an Assistant Professor in Communication and Information Sciences at the University of Groningen. She studied Communication Science at the University of Groningen and obtained her PhD from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam in 2005 with a dissertation titled "Interviewer and Respondent Interaction in Survey Interviews". In 2006, she was a postdoctoral researcher at the Survey Research and Methodology Program at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (USA). From 2007 to 2010, she worked as an Assistant Professor in Research Methods at the Faculty of Management and Governance at the University of Twente.

From 2011 to 2015, she served as the principal investigator in the NWO-funded project ‘Mixed modes in the European Social Survey’.

Currently, her research focuses on question formulation in questionnaire surveys and socially desirable responses in questionnaire surveys (project 'Nothing but the Truth: Unraveling socially desirable responding in self-reports').
