dr. T. (Tom) Slootweg

Tom Slootweg is a media historian at the University of Groningen. In 2018, he defended his dissertation on the (often utopian) hopes and expectations, but also the everyday uses, of electronic video in the Netherlands and beyond, between the 1960s and 1990s. He is currently also exploring digital tools for doing media historical research; and has been involved in the development of the CLARIAH Media Suite research infrastructure as a postdoctoral researcher (Utrecht University, 2018-2020). In addition, Tom also is a board member of the Dutch Foundation for Amateur Film and is the editor-in-chief of TMG Journal for Media History (formerly known as Tijdschrift voor Mediageschiedenis).
