Sophia Salziger is a PhD candidate at the University of Groningen. Since October 2022, she has been researching for her PhD on non-material damage in the event of data protection violations within the Transboundary Legal Studies and Private Law Departments under the supervision of prof. dr. Jeanne Mifsud Bonnici and prof. mr. dr. Albert Verheij.

She holds an LL.M. in International Human Rights Law and an LL.M. in Global Criminal Law. She completed the IHRL master with the thesis on "Pushbacks at the external borders of the European Union: Effective judicial protection for migrants from EU law and the ECHR in its Article 4 Protocol No. 4" and the GCL master with the thesis on "Crime prediction based on algorithms in the criminal justice system: Challenges from practical, ethical, and societal perspectives in light of the right to a fair trial".
