S.N. (Sara) Mouton, Dr
I have a keen interest in biology of ageing dating back to my undergraduate studies. After completing a MSc degree with a track in ageing biology in 2016, I started a PhD with Dr.Arnold Boersma and Prof.Liesbeth Veenhoff on investigating macromolecular crowding in yeast replicative ageing. During my PhD I noticed that not only crowding, but other physical and chemical parameters of the cell change as a function of age and set out to map these changes and further develop the physicochemical perspective on ageing (Mouton et al. eLife, 2020; Mouton et al. Trends in Biochem. Sci. 2023).
In 2023, I continued my work on macromolecular crowding in the group of Prof. Liesbeth Veenhoff, working on identifying genetic crowding regulators in baker's yeast (manuscript in preparation).
As of 2024, I started a Postdoc in the group of Dr. Julia Kamenz where I am working on in vitro reconstitution of the cell cycle and investigating cytoplasmic organization.
2024 - present Postdoc: Reconstitution of the cell cycle in vitro; with Dr. Julia Kamenz
2023-2024 Postdoc: Identifying macromolecular crowding regulators in baker's yeast; with Prof.Dr. Liesbeth Veenhoff
2016-2023 PhD (Cum Laude): Illuminating the physicochemical perspective on ageing; with Prof.Dr. Liesbeth Veenhoff and Dr. Arnold Boersma
2014-2016 MSc Biomedical Sciences - Biology of ageing track, University of Groningen
