S.M. (Steven) Kompier

With nearly thirty years of experience in television and broadcasting, I am a passionate director, journalist, programmaker and executive producer. I have brought stories to life worldwide, from the United Nations meeting rooms in Vienna, early years of "Zwarte Cross" to the streets of Colombia.

Since 2022, I am enjoying working at the University of Groningen. As an Audio Visual employee at AV services and since January 2025 one day a week at the Communication Department of the Faculty of Law. In addition, I also still do freelance reporting for NOS and RTL.

Sincerity, respect and a critical eye are at the core of my work. I am always committed to conveying reliable and well-founded information in a creative and accessible way.

With my broad network of journalists, educators, opinion makers and institutions, I actively contribute to strengthening the provision of information, especially at a time when disinformation is an increasing challenge.

It is obvious to me to let the 'truth' be heard, to let science speak, and to provide people with honest and reliable information.
