Expertise

I belong to the Chair of European Culture and Literature, and my main supervisor is Prof. Dr. Pablo Valdivia.

I am a PhD Candidate and researcher at the University of Groningen (RUG) and the National Research School for Literary Studies in the Netherlands (OSL).

Parallel, I hold a Research Master of Communication degree, which I received with maximum distinction at Universidad Austral de Chile (UACh). Additionally, I am a PhD Candidate in Communication at UACh and ANID Fellow: Deputy Directorate of Human Resources, National Doctorate, Chile.

The tittle of my work is The ‘Mirror Syndrome’: young female university students’ reactions to beauty influencers’ activity on Instagram and I have co-authored some articles related to my research project so far.

My main area of interest is looking beyond the functioning and use of social networking sites and their consequences on people’s well-being beyond their functioning and use, passing through traditional and new media studies and cultural, identity, and gender studies without leaving aside the cultural narratives.

I have experience in Qualitative and Quantitative research and undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, such as participating as a mentor teacher in the ‘Innovation in Teaching’ program by Scholarship Santander Skills and Harvard University or being invited as a guest lecturer in different courses at our Faculty in the RUG or having teaching to undergraduate students in Chile.

I have also been invited to do PhD research stays at the University of Cambridge and University of Oxford in the UK, Harvard and MIT in the USA, and Universidad de Sevilla in Spain. In every university I visited, I received feedback from interdisciplinary researchers that helped me have a more panoramic view of my research approach.
