About us Practical matters How to find us P.D. (Daan) Meerburg, PhD

Research interests

I am an assistant Prof. at the University of Groningen, specialised in the field of cosmology. Topics I have worked on include inflationary model building, cosmic microwave background theory and data analysis, gravitational waves, the epoch of reionisation and 21 cm cosmology. I am the PI of the VIDI proposal 'the cosmic laboratory'. I have leading roles in two upcoming ground based CMB experiments, the Simons Observatory and CCATp. I am also involved in the Radio Experiment For the Analysis of Cosmic Hyrdogen (REACH).

In recent years I have explored AI as a new avenue to search for signatures of new physics in cosmlogical data. This is a direction which I think has a lot of potential as long as we have means to cross-check with more conservative methods.
