Teaching: The key principles of my teaching philosophy include content-based learning, student-oriented and active learning techniques, strengthening the societal relevance of academic knowledge and continuous re-evaluation of multimodal teaching materials and methods. I am passionate about providing high-quality, multi-faceted and up-to-date teaching experience in a consistent and dedicated fashion. Research: My primal research interests are structured around the labor market effects from technology and the global fragmentation of production. I investigate their joint potential to polarize labor demand and their relationship with productivity with a particular focus at the regional level. A second line of research combines my academic interests with my social concerns. In that respect, I am particularly interested in whether the far-reaching impact from economic forces, inter alia globalization and their potential to increase economic uncertainty, is reflected in the electoral ballot, as expressed by the increase in populism.
