M. (Miquel) Pérez Torres, Dr
I am a STEM advisor and educational developer at the Centre for Learning and Teaching at the University of Groningen. My primary responsibility involves the professional development of the teaching community within the Faculty of Science and Engineering, specifically in STEM Education.
My academic background is in Biotechnology, with a specialization in Molecular Biotechnology. I earned both my MSc degree and PhD in Education with a focus on Science Education from the Autonomous University of Barcelona in Spain. My research is centered around the analysis of STEM innovation initiatives from the perspective of STEM practices.
Throughout my career, I have served as a teacher assistant in Science Education courses. Additionally, I have designed and implemented various teacher training programs, primarily emphasizing the effective utilization of STEM project-based methodologies across different educational levels. I also possess experience in policy development for competence-based education in Science and Mathematics.
