My research interests include film, TV, and videogame studies, bringing together narrative, cognitive, and cultural approaches to these media. My current focus is on critical approaches to empathy across media. I am the author of Mental Illness and Narrative Complexity: An Experiential Approach to Puzzle Films and Complex Television (Edinburgh University Press, forthcoming 2025) and co-editor of the special issues “Illness, Narrated” (2021), “Queer Politics in Media and Legal Cultures” (2024), and “Mental TV: Changing the Narratives of Mental Disorders on Television” (2025).
