M. (Michelle) Helms-Lorenz, Dr
Research: Michelle Helms-Lorenz acquired funding from the Dutch government for a national project involving 9 teacher education institutes of 8 universities and their partner HBO institutes. This project aimed to accelerate the development of teaching skills and the wellbeing of beginning teachers and to reduce early attrition. More than 50% of Dutch secondary school were assisted in developing induction arrangements throughout the country and data has been collected from >2500 beginning teachers and >180 000 students. In 2015 Michelle was promoted to associate professor.
Michelle acquired funding from NWO for an international comparative study with her colleague dr. Ridwan Maulana.
PHD co-promotor of: Esther Tamara Canrinus, who has finished her phd thesis on professional identity successfully. Ruth Harmsen, who defended her thesis on 19/12/2019. Her studies focus the stress of beginning teacher in secondary education.
