K.T. (Kilian) Roithmaier, LLM
Kilian Roithmaier is a PhD Candidate in the Transboundary Legal Studies department. The working title of his research project is 'Ensuring Respect for International Law in Belligerent Support Relationships: The Legal Framework Regulating Third State Support to Non-State Armed Groups'. As part of his project, Kilian conducted a two-month research visit in the War Studies and Military History department (Military Strategy division) at the Swedish Defence University - Försvarshögskolan.
Before joining the University of Groningen, Kilian worked as a Junior Researcher at the T.M.C. Asser Institute, where he conducted fundamental as well as policy-oriented research on (counter)terrorism, armed conflicts, and international humanitarian law. He was also the Editorial Assistant to the Yearbook of International Humanitarian Law (Volumes 21 and 22).
Kilian obtained an LL.M. in public international law from the University of Amsterdam with distinction in 2018. Before that, he studied law with a specialization in European and public international law at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich and passed the First Law Examination ('Erstes Juristisches Staatsexamen') in 2017.
