prof. dr. E.J.M.M. (Jos) Arts
Jos Arts is professor Environmental and Infrastructure Planning at the University of Groningen, the Netherlands. Since completing a PhD on EIA follow-up, he has organized international workshops and published about impact assessment, environmental, spatial and infrastructure planning (eg. “Handbook of EIA and SEA follow-up” Earthscan, London 2006; "Builders and Planners – A history of land-use and infrastructure planning in the Netherlands", Eburon Delft 2016; "Public-Private Interaction in Infrastructure Networks", InPlanning Groningen 2020).
His research focuses on institutional analysis and design for integrated planning approaches for sustainable infrastructure networks (transformation of physical networks and interdependent institutions). This regards such issues as:environmental and social impact assessment, planning approaches for sustainable infrastructure, life-cycle and area-oriented approaches to infrastructure planning, early contractor involvement, risk management, time and costs issues in planning and decision-making for transport infrastructure.
