dr. J. Karsten
Dr. Julie Karsten studied psychology at the University of Amsterdam. After graduating in Clinical Psychology, she completed a PhD at the University Medical Center Groningen (UMCG) based on the NESDA project, focussing on subclinical depression and anxiety (Supervisors: Brenda Penninx, Willem Nolen, Catharina Hartman).
After receiving her PhD, she worked as a senior researcher at the Forensic Psychiatric Hospital in Assen for six years, researching aggression, impulsivity, and personality disorders. She is currently an Assistant Professor at the department of clinical psychology and the Experimental Psychopathology group of the Heymans Institute for Psychological Research at the University of Groningen. Here, she coordinates the master track Clinical Forensic Psychology and Victimology, a track focussing on explaining offending behaviour and treating underlying psychopathology and consquences for offenders and victims.
