J.C. (Jan) Hennig, Dr
Jan Hennig is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Accounting at the University of Groningen. Before joining the University of Groningen, he was an Assistant Professor at the University of Goettingen (Germany) from 2019 until 2022. Between 2016 and 2019, Jan was a research associate at the University of Goettingen and received his doctoral degree (Dr. rer. pol.; grade: summa cum laude). Receiving his master degree in management (awarded with the Florenz Sartorius price for best graduate) and his bachelor degree in business administration, Jan studied at the Universidad de Salamanca (Spain), San Diego State University (USA), and University of Goettingen (Germany).
Jan’s research focuses on the intersection between corporate governance, management control, and corporate strategy. In his research, Jan intends to incorporate overarching societal challenges, such as the digital transformation or environmental protection, and link them to central elements of the investigated research fields. In his research projects, Jan frequently supplements the use of archival datasets with innovative data collection methods, such as computer-aided textual analysis.
His work has been published in leading academic accounting and management journals, such as Accounting, Organizations and Society, European Accounting Review, Strategic Organization, Global Strategy Journal, and Journal of Business Research. Jan is serving as an ad-hoc reviewer for several journals, among others, European Accounting Review, Management Accounting Research, and Human Resource Management.
