prof. dr. G.H. (Gerard) Koppelman
Gerard Koppelman is often invited for national and international postgraduate courses on asthma, genomics and pharmacogenomics. He was chair and co-organizer of the postgraduate course on Pharmacogenomics of Lung Disease, American Thoracic Society, Annual Conference 2018, and gives the annual key note lecture on asthma for the national course on pediatric asthma and allergy called Trends. He is co-supervisor of the fellow Program of Pediatric Pulmonology in the University Medical Center Groningen, and supervises residents and interns in Pediatrics. He is also involved in the medical and medical biology curriculum, teaching lectures on asthma and on conflict of interests in the collaboration between medical doctors and the pharmaceutical industry.
Koppelman is very much involved in educating the general public. He was one of the founders of the Medische Publieksacademie, a mini medical school for the lay public, where he lectured on asthma and allergies. He is editor of a book “Genezen Verklaard”, based on the first 2 years of the Medische Publieksacademie.(https://research.rug.nl/en/publications/genezen-verklaard-medische-experts-over-twaalf-gezondheidsthemas). He is co-founder of exqAIro, a foundation aimed at improving implementation of Artificial Intelligence in medicine, by teaching experts in the biomedical and pharma field.
