B.C. (Björn) Mitzinneck, Dr

Björn Mitzinneck is an Associate Professor in the Department of Innovation Management and Strategy. He also serves as PhD Coordinator for the Faculty of Economics and Business, taking operational responsibility for the PhD program and supporting the ca. 180 PhD candiates at the faculty. As of September 2024, he is also member of the Young Academy Groningen.

Prior to joining the University of Groningen, he completed his PhD at the Johnson Graduate School of Management of Cornell University, USA. He earned an MPhil in Strategy, Innovation, and Organization from Cambridge University, United Kingdom.

His research focuses on sustainability transitions in sectors of primary importance to human needs, such as food and energy, studying both the emergence of novel organizing models in entrepreneurial ventures and responses to change pressures in incumbent corporations. His work contributes to the faculty's strategic themes of "Energy transition and climate change" as well as "future prosperity & sustainability".
