2023 - 2027 PI 'Do Migrants in Europe Age Well? A Mixed-Methods and Intervention Study in Four Countries (MIG-AGE) Project' in collaboration with Universities of Bamberg, Koc, and Genoa. Funded by Volkswagen Foundation.

2022 PI 'Understanding Refugee-Led Organizations: A Social Network Study'. Funded by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).

2017 – 2018 John F. Kennedy Memorial Fellow & Visiting Scholar at the Center for European Studies, Harvard University, 'Personal networks of Chinese international students: A structural and comparative analysis'. Funded by German Academic Exchange Services (DAAD).

2016 – 2019 Senior Researcher, ‘Asian Educational Mobilities: A Comparative Study of International Migration of Japanese and Chinese Higher Education Students’ International Collaborative Research Project Bielefeld University, Germany, Essex University, the UK and Kyoto University, Japan. 2015 – 2018 Senior Researcher, ‘Bright Futures: A Comparative Study of Internal and International Mobility of Chinese Students’, International Collaborative Research Project Bielefeld University, Germany, Essex University, the UK, and University of Tsinghua, China. Funded by The Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC), German Research Foundation (DFG) and National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC).
