As a Researcher in Orthopedagogy at the Academic Workplace for People with Profound Intellectual and Multiple Disabilities (PIMD), I conduct practice-oriented research. For the 'Binding & Bonding' Project, I focus on the question: What motivates care professionals to work with people with PIMD and what makes them stay? In a time when we are facing an increasingly severe shortage in care for people with PIMD, this is an important theme. If we gain more insight into the factors that contribute to engaging and retaining care professionals, we can implement policies to attract (bonding) and retain (binding) current and future professionals. I would be very pleased if we could gain a better understanding of the factors that are important for engaging and retaining care professionals in the field of PIMD. In this project, we will develop a practical tool that provides continuous insight for care professionals and organizational management into what is needed for good collaboration and a pleasant working environment at the organizational, team, and individual levels. If care professionals are committed to working with people with PIMD and continue to be so, we hope to create more stable teams and organizations in the future, with happier care workers, happier clients, and better care for people with PIMD.
