Research interests

Antonios (Antonis) Vasileiadis Vasileiou is a  Ph.D. candidate in Rijksuniversiteit Groningen at the Zernike Institute of Advanced Materials and member of the Macromolecular Chemistry and New Polymeric Materials group of Prof. Dr. Katja Loos. His doctoral research investigates the development of novel biobased furanic polyester stereocomplexes for the replacement of key engineering polyesters. His scientific interests extend from polymer chemistry and polymer physics to nature-inspired materials, green chemistry and sustainability topics.

He holds a master’s degree in Biobased Materials, from the University of Maastricht, that explored L-glutamic acid as a biobased feedstock for the multifunctional polyesters, synthesized via polycondensation techniques, characterized both chemically and mechanically. In addition, he holds a B.Sc./M.Eng in Materials Science and Engineering, from the University of Ioannina (GR), with a thesis on star-branched styrenic polymers synthesized via Atom Transfer Radical Polymerization.
