A.S. (Ann-Sophie) Lehmann, Prof
Ann-Sophie Lehmann studied art history in Vienna and Utrecht and worked as assistant and associate professor in the Department of Media & Culture at Utrecht University. Since 2015 she holds the chair of art history & material culture at the University of Groningen. She has received a NWO Veni grant in 2005 and fellowships from a.o. the Warburg Institute, the Getty Research Institute, and the Max-Planck Institute of History of Science. Lehmann is editor-in-chief of the series Studies in Art and Materiality (Brill), a member of the editorial board of the Zeitschrift für Kunstgeschichte, and the advisory boards of Art History and Zeitschrift für Geschlechterforschung und visuelle Kultur. From 2020-2025 she leads the NWO (Dutch Research Council) research project Curious Hands. Moving Making to the Core of Education. With Judith Spijksma (Fries Museum, Leeuwarden), she collaborates on the NWO-funded museum research project Eco-Critical Approaches to Landscape (2023-24).
