prof. dr. A.J.M. (Ton) Schoot Uiterkamp
Ton Schoot Uiterkamp (1944) holds a PhD in biophysical chemistry from the University of Groningen. He was a staff member of UNESCO in Cairo, Egypt. He has held research and managerial positions at Yale University ( New Haven, CT) and at the Harvard School of Public Health (Boston, MA). He was a staff member and a department head at the Environmental Division of the Netherlands Organisation for Applied Scientific Research (TNO) in Delft. From 1991 he has been a professor of environmental sciences at RUG. He was the chairman of the Center for Energy and Environmental Sciences IVEM and the Science and Society Group. Since 2009 he has been a honorary professor of Environmental Sciences.
His activities focus on designing and implementing feasible and acceptable ways towards locally and globally sustainable production and consumption systems while maintaining and improving environmental quality and environmental health
