Dr. Anita Casarotto (PhD 2018, Leiden University) is an archaeologist and postdoctoral researcher of the Groningen Institute of Archaeology and Associated Researcher of the KNIR Royal Netherlands Institute in Rome. She works in the project
The impact of Roman imperialism in the West
: settlement dynamics and rural organization in Iron Age and Roman Portugal, financed by the Cultuurfonds. Her research interests include predictive modelling, land evaluation, spatial analysis in GIS, statistical methods for landscape archaeology and for cultural heritage management, Mediterranean and Roman archaeology, (legacy) field survey data and settlement pattern analysis, open data and digital platforms for data sharing. Her research activities and fieldwork projects concentrate in Italy and the Western Iberian Peninsula, especially in Portugal where she coordinates the GAP – Guarda Archaeological Project in collaboration with the NOVA University of Lisbon and the Municipality of Guarda.
