Resarch methods

Anita teaches several modules on Evidence-based Medicine in the general practitioners' training curriculum:

- How to formulate a well-built question in the PICO format

- Performing literature research for daily practice and research projects

- Critical appraisal of the medical literature

- How to incorporate evidence of the literature in daily patient care

- Creating a Critical Appraisal of a Topic (CAT)

Production of multiple-choice questions

Being the coordinator for the National Knowledge and Skills Tests for GP-trainees and GP-trainers, she produces multiple-chocie questions. All produced items are being stored in a national database.

The National Knowledge Test is compulsary for all GP-trainees twice a year. The National Skills Test is compulsary once for first year GP-trainees.

Coach in the Master Programme

Within the scope of the competency Professional Development in the first year of the Master Programma, Anita is a coach for two groups of 12 students each (4th years medical students). For one year these junior clerks join two-hours sessions. One hour is being spent on learning by reflecting and sharing personal work experiences. The second hour is on medical dilemmas of a fixed topic, including cultural differences, death and dying, sexual harassment and making a medical error. In advance they read about the topic and discuss it with their peers.  During this year the clerks work on their portfolio, which includes an analysis of their perceived strengths and weaknesses.

Continuing medical education

Regularly, Anita is invited to give workshops in continuing-education courses and at conferences for general practitioners in the Netherlands and abroad.
