Inclusivity in the live music industry

Music and festivals bring people together; however, there is still much we can do to make the live music business a safer and more inclusive environment. The gender gap is still very present in the music industry, festivals are not always a safe space for members of the LGBTQ+ community and people of color do not have equal opportunities compared to white people.

Showcase festival Eurosonic Noorderslag (ESNS) strives for an inclusive musical spectrum and wants to be an example regarding these issues. Guds Agency and Malisa Stiftung are partners in this research and, collaborating with ESNS, the theme of Inclusiveness in the live music industry is researched by the UG. The partnership was made possible through the Science Shop Language, Communication and Society.
