Minorities and Multilingualism
The programme Minorities & Multilingualism prepares you for a career working in situations where different cultures and languages meet. The subjects taught in the BA cover the political, cultural, and social aspects of minority groups and their languages. In this web class we aim to give you a concise taste of what our programme has to offer. During the four weeks of the web class you will deal with key topics in the areas of minorities, with selfing and othering as the main focus of week 2, as well as issues in multilingualism, such as the debate around language learning and naturalisation exams in week 3.
Web class
T his web class provides a great insight into the central concepts of the Minorities & Multilingualism program by making you aware of the processes of selfing and othering, and offers a small research project on language learning. In the final week, you will combine your knowledge and show that language and identity often go hand-in-hand. Your four weekly assignments will be graded and you will receive feedback from the web class tutor. The weekly workload is around 2,5 hours, adding up to ten hours in total.
