Life Science & Technology
How do biological molecules like proteins and DNA function? Can you create new heart valves from cells? Can you use biotechnology to improve the production of food, enzymes and medicine?
During the bachelor Life Science & Technology you will learn how to answer these kind of questions. By combining the disciplines biology, chemistry, physics and technology, students LS&T learn how to use insights from these fields to study the complex systems of living organisms and improve the health, quality of life or to improve the environment.
About the web class
This web class will introduce you to the various aspects of the bachelor degree LS&T by applying the various subjects to one specific topic; the coronavirus. In the first week you will learn about the cell biological process of transcription and translation, and how virus hijacks this process. In the second week, we will go more in depth into the biochemical aspects of the translation machinery. Week three concerns the physics behind (fluorescence) microscopy, techniques used to study viruses. In the last week you will work on one on the most important skills; reading and analyzing research papers.
Enrolment is open
Enrollment for the fall edition of the web classes is closed. The web classes will start on Monday 18 November.
