Successful PhD Supervision: A Shared Journey

Learn how to supervise PhD students effectively.

With this 3-week course we support you in your important and challenging role of supervisor, guide and coach of PhD candidates.

You will first learn how to best support the candidate throughout the different moments and phases of the PhD trajectory. You will then dive into what it takes to establish and maintain a good working relationship and an atmosphere of trust with your PhD student. Lastly, you will focus on your own personal and professional development, and reflect on how your values and your context influence your supervision style.

Throughout the course, you will hear directly from the voice of supervisors and PhD candidates at the University of Groningen, and you will be encouraged to immediately put in practice what you have learned, and share your observations and experiences with the other learners.
