Interdisciplinary Research

Currently, research activities in the area of energy and sustainability at the University of Groningen are consolidated through three research centres and the upcoming Wubbo Ockels School of Energy and Climate.

• ESRIG: Energy and Sustainability Institute Groningen
• GCEL: Groningen Centre of Energy Law
• CENBER: Centre for Energy Business and Economics Research
• (upcoming) Wubbo Ockels School of Energy and Climate.

The three research centres contribute directly to the activities of the Wubbo Ockels School of Energy and Climate.

Other researchers, not otherwise affiliated with these centers are also pursuing or developing research in this area. Besides this growth within the university, close partners, such as the Hanze University of Applied Sciences and Energy Valley, are increasingly active in this area, and numerous new initiatives are being launched nearly every month.
