Recap R&D Playground June 2022
What happens when you put the best researchers and professionals from the Green Industry in the North in one room? You get the R&D Playground! On the 9th of June, University of the North, Chemport Europe and Eemsdeltra Green organised this networking event for experts from research institutes and companies to come together and share their insights around biomass, CO2-valorization and sustainable chemistry.
Connecting the North
This event was made possible by University of the North, Chemport Europe and Eemsdeltra Green as a way to support the sustainability effort of the Northern industry. At the event hosted in the FC Groningen stadium, researchers from academia and applied sciences as well as representatives from industry and governmental institutions linked to Green Industry explored the challenges of a sustainable industry.
Insights and eierballen
The programme of the day started with a plenary session, introduced by Wim Raaijen. The keynote speaker of this plenary session, Achim Raschka, Head of Department Technology & Markets at nova-Institute, presented about the challenges and developments around the topic of the event.
The rest of the day was divided into three separate parallel sessions: 'Sustainable Carbon: Biomass', 'Advanced Materials' and '(Bio) Sustainable Sources & Waste Streams'. Speakers from companies and knowledge institutes introduced these topics through short presentations during these parallel sessions followed by fruitful discussions in the sessions.
Afterwards, the real work started as visitors started networking while enjoying a few drinks and some local snacks, including the famous Groninger eierbal.
We hope that the visitors were able to meet new, like-minded people and that the seeds for new collaborations have been sown!
