SURFfilesender

Surffilesender is a service developed by SURF that allows you to send and receive research data and other privacy-sensitive files quickly, securely and easily. SURFfilesender is suitable for files up to 1 TB. The files are stored in the Netherlands, encryption offers additional security.

Additional security with encryption

With SURFfilesender, files are sent securely. The uploaded files are stored in the Netherlands for a maximum of 21 days. For files up to 2 GB, users can also opt for additional security in the form of encryption. The ‘encryption key’ is sent to the recipient through a second channel (e.g., by telephone or text message). 

Fast and user-friendly

SURFfilesender is very easy to use. No installation is required in order to send and receive files. All that is needed is a browser. SURFfilesender is linked to the user’s University account. Guest use is possible as well, so that users can safely exchange files with people outside the University.
