UG invests 750,000 euros in e-learning

18 July 2017

The Board of the University has awarded nearly 750,000 euros to 10 e-learning projects. From the faculties, employees submitted a total of 25 proposals for e-learning in university education last year. After selection, 10 projects received green light.

In the first year, more than 70 courses from different faculties will be equipped with digital activating tools. This will reach over 14,000 students at the University. Examples of digital applications include: using VR glasses in urban planning issues, automatically reviewing student assignments, training communication skills online, and making it easier for teachers to use e-learning tools.

Ronald Stolk, Director of the CIT and chairman of the committee responsible for selecting the projects, welcomes the award of the projects: 'After a strict selection on quality, sadly not all applications could be approved. However, the remaining 10 projects are of the highest quality. We're very glad to invest in these various interesting faculty projects.'

For rejected and for new projects, Ronald Stolk still sees ample opportunities: 'Every year, there is a call for e-learning projects. And next year it will also be possible for students to apply with their projects. Moreover, our newly appointed team of edu-scientists can now help with making applications even more fitting.'
